Platinum finishes are used as an inert finish coating for medical and laboratory instruments. Characterized by its superior resistance to corrosive chemicals, "platinized" devices are widely used in several segments of industry.

From a decorative standpoint, platinum can be used as a final finish over sterling silver and copper alloys to enhance their value and to stabilize their surfaces from discoloring.

Platinum finishes have good resistance to surface abrasion.

For long term stability platinum can not be plated directly onto silver, copper alloys, steel and other metals without a protective undercoating. All items that we plate are meticulously cleaned and pre-plated. Your item is then electroplated with a layer of durable .25 microns of platinum.
